Le Terroir

Maury sec and Côtes du Roussillon villages appellation production area, covering the communes of Maury, Tautavel, Saint Paul and Rasiguères.
Made up of schistous marl from the secondary period (Aptian), the layered structure of this soil allows the roots to penetrate deeply to find the moisture they need to feed themselves. The black colour of the shale enables it to absorb heat during the day and release it at night, allowing the grapes to reach full maturity.

Grape varieties - Vinification

Old vines selected for their low yield (25 hl/ha), harvested at full maturity. Harvested by hand. Grain by grain selective sorting.
Long traditional maceration in new oak barrels selected from the best merandiers in the French forests.

  • 70% Grenache noir
  • 27% Syrah
  • 3% Carignan


Traditionally aged for 16 months in oak barrels from the forests of central France.

Tasting

Dark ruby colour. The tears are numerous, dense and regular. The nose is very complex: red fruit, blackcurrant, black cherry. On the palate: the attack is full, frank and expressive. The cherries are very present, overhanging flavours of undergrowth and roasting. The finish is extraordinarily long, with hints of garrigue, liquorice and cocoa. Wines with smooth tannins and elegant finesse.

Service & Development prospects

Gourmet wine. Serve at a temperature of 18°C.
A wine for laying down. Can be drunk within 5 years of its commercial release, as well as being appreciated for its evolution beyond 20 years.
